THE COASTAL 240 RULES & FORMAT

The Coastal 240 Endurance race

We will be running a 4 hour endurance touring car race here at Coastal on June 15th. Entry forms are available at race meetings and will be available on the club website.

There will be certificates for the winning team members and the provisional rules are as follows.

1) The race will be over a distance of 240 minutes (4 hours) split into two 2 hour sessions with a one hour ‘recovery’ interval in between.

2) The start time will be 10.00. The second session will start at 13.00 and finish at 15.00.

3) There will be a maximum of 10 teams.

4) Each team to have a minimum of 4 drivers and a maximum of 7 -all drivers to be 2007 BRCA licence holders.

5) Teams will be selected by ballot and sorted by ability and frequency.

6) Teams will be selected by ballot on 25th May. Late entries will be accepted up to 9.30 on 15th June and will be placed in a team subject to ability, frequency and at the Race director’s discretion.

7) Entry fee per driver £5.00

. Each team will be allocated specific frequencies- it will be the responsibility of the team to ensure that the correct frequencies are fitted to their cars and are operational. –there will be no changes once allocated.

9) Each team car will carry the team number, placed on the windscreen

10) Each team will run a club handout transponder, (Personal Transponders must be disconnected). The transponder will be transferred between team cars.

11) Drivers names can be placed on the rear windows-Team liveries are encouraged.

12) Team numbers and grid position will be selected by ballot before the start of the meeting.

13)  Subject to numbers, teams will be allocated specific rostrum positions based on grid position.

14) There will be a classic Le Mans type start with cars lined up in the start positions at an angle on the side of the start straight.

15) The team that completes the most laps in 4 hours will be declared the winner.

16) Ties will be decided on split times and then by fastest lap.

17) In the event of the meeting being abandoned the team that were leading when the race was stopped will be declared the winners.

1 There will be no motor restriction. The class will be Open.

19) There will be no cell restriction, however teams should exercise due care and caution due to the number of cycles that cells will be required to undergo.

20) The minimum weight limit will be 1500 grams without transponder.

21) Body shells will be of a touring car or GT shape

22) Tyres will be open to the teams/drivers choice

23) Each team to provide one driver to marshal at the team number marshal point at all times.  Failure to provide a marshal- one lap per minute’s absence.

24) A pit lane will be provided- only 2 cars from each team permitted in the pit lane at one time-only transponders can be changed in the pit lane, for all other work the car must be removed from the track. Only 2 team members permitted in the pit lane at any one time.

25) Only the marshals will be allowed onto the racing surface- any other team members/drivers on the track will incur a 1 lap penalty.

26) Only two team members allowed onto the rostrum at any one time. (1 Lap penalty).

27) Each team driver must be on the rostrum in the first hour and complete at least one lap.

2 Scrutineering will be random. Cars will be called to the scrutineering bay as they leave the track, failure to take car to scrutineering when requested- 1 lap penalty.

29) Failure at scrutineering – 1 lap penalty

30) Only drivers on the rostrum should have transmitters switched on.

31) Deliberate impedance of other teams, cars or drivers on the track by marshalling, driving or in the pit lane will incur a 1 lap penalty for each offence.

Paul has been in contact with them and yes they should be sending at least one team, also spread the word at Bury and hopefully get a team from them

Leigh will be getting a team from Bury so with Colchester as well it should be a cracking event.
