Stock championship!

The vote was to run brushed motors only in the stock championship and not allow brushless to run as they can run at all other meetings.
It appears that many people now only have brushless motors, how many of you only have brushless.

Something to discuss.
1) Do we keep it as it is till the end of this year?

2) Do we run a seperate non championship heat on the stock championship days for brushless ?

3) Do we end the stock championship early and start another allowing brushless ?

4) any other suggestions?

Could we not just open up the Stock championship to Brushless 13.5 rather than ending it early?

I am not in favor of keeping the status quo as it is at the moment.  However I would be in favor of option 2 if it meant that I could run on stock days.  Selfish I know, and I wasnt at the AGM to put my point forward and vote so in part my fault.  However most other championships are now running 13.5 with 27t...  Seems to work for them, and over at Bury it works fine with both (I know carpet smallish track, different kettle of fish etc etc..)

as a total brushless convert, i am all in favour of allowing brushless into all championships. experiences at bury show there is very little difference in proformace in race conditions, but brushless is a hole lot easyer to maintain.

Add a bit of water and some might find brushed still has an advantage

As the vote was to keep the Stock class as 27T brushed I feel that it is only fair to keep it that way for 2008. However, how about this for a compromise suggestion

We run both Stock 27T and 13.5 brushless in the same heats and finals and those declared as brushless runners are identified at the end of the championship, just like we used to do with junior, senior and veterans.

For example, if the series was to end now Ian would be declared Stock champion (as per vote) with Trevor as Class B champion.

This is just an idea to allow all to race together and not to dilute into another heat.

Trevor as Class B Champion I like the sound of that a Champion at Last   only took 9 years to win somthing

All joking apart I know my car was handeling very Badly Saunday but Miss Baker with her Stock motor was more than a match for my 13.5 on the sraight as well as on the infield

This was one of the New generation 27turn motors ,,, maybe the manufactures have up'd there game as far as brushed stock motors go

I agree with Pauls suggestion of like the old Junior middle aged and old git proposal works for everyone ..........

I agree with Paul's suggestion, sounds good to me and a fair compromise!!

Based on the qualifying for Sunday the top four or five cars were running brushed/NiMH's. So there doesn't appear to be any performance advantage with either brushed/brushless or Lipo/NiMH's. We allow one of the combinations to run in the same championship but not the other, which to me doesn't make sense - especially when more of the drivers now have access to, and regularly run elsewhwere, brushless motors.
Therefore I'm in favour of Paul's compromise for this years championship, but would look to the club to allow brushless to be run alongside brushed in any future championship as even partners, rather than seperating them out.

I think that in 2009 (depending on AGM vote) it is very likely that we will be running a new class, replacing Stock.

We don't want to turn people away from stock meetings this year so thats why I suggested the compromise.

As we said at the AGM, this year will be a transition year and we can evaluate the different systems out there and see what others are doing.

I agree with Ian in that there was very little in overall lap times on Sunday. The brushless runners did seem to have more instant acceleration which could cause a few problems but no more than normal.

Just as in full size racing you have to wait for the guy in front to go or be prepared to take a different line.

We will discuss the proposal on Sunday.

Lets talk on Sunday, interesting that the top 4 qualifiers were all brushed, so running both together and splitting points seems the best solution this year
Paul

Well, I didn't get to speak to everyone on Sunday but the general feeling was that we would allow the use of 13.5 brushless systems in the Stock class for the remainder of 2008.

The class will, in the main, be 27T stock based but those running 13.5 brushless systems will be identifed and their points will count towards the championship in what we will call 'Group B Stock' for the time being.
This will come into effect at the next championship round on 8th June.
