Moved from CuttingEdge

Plato started by saying

I have a few idea's about mini championship rules

1:- 540 silver can motors only
2:- only D60 slick or treaded tyres mounted on mini wheels can be used
3:- touring car size wet weather tyre's can only be used went wet/damp
4:- tamiya speed controller only (ebay from £4 used to £11.99 new)
5:- max 3000 battery can be used
6:- may add min weight limit 1400g ? or poss lower?

pls leave feedback or any more idea's

I followed by responding with

I feel point 4 I think it was should be removed as many people who run minis use different ESC in there cars and I feel it makes no difference what ESC is used

Body Shells in my opinion can be any avalable to fit the M03 car including Mardave shells and Jap inport shells .........

I know this has already been discussed but Plato started the tread on my Forum I have just moved it to here as requested by Barry which I agree with as its a club point and my forum ( our forum ) is about all other discussion .............

I can see what Plato means regards setting limits on this class, after all the whole concept was geared to encourage beginers into racing!!!

Surely if we allow to many changes to the cars you will end up with a championship where money & experience rules!! Not what a newbie would enjoy.

Even I could attempt to drive in a basic car set up.

I'd agree to nearly anything to see Pete drive....

I think the speedo restriction is a pain for little gain in fairness.

How about a rule specifying a specif motor connector/bullet type. Then at the start of each meeting everyone submits their motor to race control who randomly hands them out to competitors for the day. Too much hassle just to stop Jimbo?

Its been Proven its not Jims Motor he is just Quick so motor changes would just be hassel

One Extra Rule needs to be added and that is ONLY 1 of the 3 pinions can be used the MO3 can take only 3 Pinion sizes ........... ( There has been talk of people trying to dremmel out the holes in the gearbox to take a larger pinion and this is just Cheating if it is true )

As for Wheels & Tyres I feel anything should be leagle as has been proved if you try and cheat with oversized wheel & tyre combos it can have the opposite affect and make the mini unstable ..................

Part of the FUN is seeing people looking for the advantage that just is not there

I feel the rules should be simple

1 Only Tamiya M03 or M04 cars alowed ( beginers with a TC can only run Silver can motor )
2 Any ESC , Servo , Reciver can be used
3 Silver can motor only
4 Any Bodyshell that you can fit allowed
5 All Hop Ups allowed ( you can't stop people fitting them and there is no advantage )
6 Championship to be run on every meeting 6 races per meet
7 The winner from each race has to fit a 25g weight before the next race so if one car is faster and keeps winning it will become slower as the day goes on
8 No weight limit or starting weight limit
9 battery to be no more than 3200 capacity
10 only 1 of the 3 standard pinions can be used
11 Any Wheel & Tyre Combo allowed

Example Car 1 wins race one gets 25g weight penalty for race 2 If the same car wins again another 25g weight has to be fitted and so on and so on
If Car 1  loses Race 3  then then 1x 25g weight can be removed

Weights should be carried over to next meeting also

If we keep it this simple then we stand a chance of a good Championship

I propose the First round of this Championship to start in November and be run as a Winter Championship over 8 meetings with 5 to count

I can supply Weights for the championship with Velcro on & Velcro to put onto every ones Cars to take the Weights

Any other Ideas

It won't be long now before we have the AGM so would it be an idea to put all suggestions to the vote amongst the membership

Several ideas have been put forward in all classes so please see the new thread for the AGM agenda.

I would say that any new rules or regulations have to be enforcable and have to have someone to enforce them. One thing to consider if the minis do have stricter rules is that you will need to nominate a 'co-ordinater' or series official who is a mini competitor who will have the final say what is or isn't 'legal'.

I agree with you on that one Paul about someone to enforce the rules ,,,, Which is why i have put my proposals forward , as its hard to regulate minis

I would be happy to Run the championship and be race official as long as I can enter as well

i think and i think other mini drivers will aswell who are in it to win it should see les woods deducted 5 penalty points from his championship total score as he got 200 pts for using an illegal motor that day and with none of the other drivers having a hope in hell of beating les i think this should be a fair punishment for les for using an illegal 25t motor
