wen running 64dp u can get better gear ratios then wen running 48dp the down side of running 64dp is u got to mesh right coz it will bugger the teeth up. i think alot of racers at ipswich run 48dp..
u said some cars r more quiter then urs make sure everything on the car is running free (eg) bearings r clean no grit on the spur gear , diff pulleys. drive shafts are not bent and nothing is binding on the car.
hope this helps im sure some people will add to wat i said or say if im wrong |

| As mark said 64dp allows for more accurate gear ratios, but unless your a real perfectionist its really not needed. Your noises will be from the mesh being to tight or coming from somewhere else and as long as the transmission doesn't feel tight, its not really worth worrying about. Just check all the bearings to make sure they rotate freely. |

Although 64Dp allows finer adjustment of ratios, you may find if the mesh is not perfect you will strip the spurs easier. I know I did years ago with a corally!
Personally 48P I think is a good comprimise, a bit harder wearing even if the ratios are not quite as close (less spurs & pinions required though!) _________________ Built it

48for sure is the safer option. Would never use 64dp again as the last time i did 2 spurs in one meeting
